The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we work, possibly forever. Businesses have had to implement remote working strategies which for some, is completely new territory. Employee physical and mental health has become a priority, and we are using new tools to stay connected and productive during these extraordinary times.
For some organisations, it’s important to keep track of the number of Covid-19 cases around the world of for business reasons. Other organisations might just want to be able to keep their employees informed of the ongoing situation.
Recognising this need for businesses to stay up to date with the latest pandemic statistics, and to communicate these internally, Microsoft have produced a free template for SharePoint Online customers to quickly deploy a Crisis Management site, where central communications concerning Covid-19 and the impact on their business could be dispersed easily from an internal portal.
Core are taking that one step further to help our customers, some of whom have a global presence, monitor the spread of Covid-19. We have built an add-on which can be used as an additional widget with any Modern SharePoint site to provide further Coronavirus information to businesses that need it. The web part has been developed to complement any Modern SharePoint site, but it performs optimally alongside the Crisis Management site.
The stats collected show the most up-to-date data of Covid-19 cases across the globe using the official Covid19 API sourced from Johns Hopkins University. To personalise the experience, the web part can be personalised so that each user can independently select which countries to follow.
We created the web part to give something back to our customer community during these challenging times, and to empower them to stay informed, up-to-date and able to communicate important information with their teams as the situation progresses.
